Post-interview thoughts
Here’s what I wrote a few years back after not getting selected for a job I applied for.
Yesterday, I messed up an interview. The way I presented myself was good, but not good enough. I focused too much on my soft skills; skills that would make me a great agile/scrum leader.
Instead, I should have talked about when I joined IBM and on day 1 received 6 projects, 4 of them in red. It was the customer that demanded a new PM. I was that person. It was me who revived all of those projects. It was me who, within weeks, managed to create a very good rapport with the customer, establish new deadlines, and simply make the customer happy. It was me who, within months, completed those projects.
During the interview yesterday, by focusing on my soft skills, I lost sight of how good a project manager I am.
Admittedly, I made a mistake... but I learned from this mistake.
