Career break

I am an enthusiastic person with a zest for life. The nine years between December 2013 and January 2023 are a testament to that.

During that time I wasn’t working as a project manger, but I was developing in many other ways. In that time I completed the following:

I embarked on an epic motorcycle journey that lasted nearly 3 years and traversed many parts of Europe and Asia.   I got as far as Northern Iraq and later Siberia. During that time, I developed a great deal of self-reliance, resilience, and the utmost confidence in my capability to adapt and cope with any challenge put in front of me. I learned to trust myself.

As “one picture is worth a thousand words”, I’m happy to share a few

Later, I wrote and publish four books, all in English. To this day I have sold close to 5000 copies and had over a quarter of a million pages read via the subscription model. Becoming a self-published author helped me strengthen my ability to communicate in written English.

When the journey ended, I became a yoga instructor. Together with my wife, we created a successful yoga and mindfulness business in the United Kingdom; a business that we have run for over 5 years. Being a yoga teacher helped me gain a wealth of transferable skills; above all, it has improved my communication and leaderships skills. Below you can find some of our leaflets (which I created myself) and a few letters of thanks from our students.

In 2020, my wife and I moved to Poland. Consequently, I designed and self-built a small house using natural and locally-sources materials such as hemp, clay, and pine timbers. Though building a house is different than completing an IT project, I believe it is similar in that it required me to navigate dependencies, manage complexities, and most importantly, to persevere with my goal, despite countless obstacles and limitations. I knew nothing about woodworking or other construction skills, but I learned on the job. I know I can learn anything, fast.

I am convinced that this part of my life has shaped me as a person, enriched my potential and most importantly, has moulded me into an even a better and more mature employee. It taught me to trust in my own ability to complete whatever I set out to do.
